What I learned: Teen Clinical Trial Experiences

Susan and Amanda have both gone through clinical trials, and learned a lot from their experiences.

In this session, Susan will share what her clinical trial experiences taught her about anaphylaxis. Susan was a participant in PRROTECT, a double-blind OIT (oral immunotherapy) clinical trial. She now knows she received the placebo.  Susan had multiple anaphylactic reactions during the clinical trial and became very familiar with the signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis and knowing what to do.  Susan made a video including footage of herself during one of her anaphylactic reactions, which she will show.  After the video, attendees will have the opportunity to practice injecting an expired EpiPen into an orange.

Amanda will discuss her experience going through two clinical trials and then working on research. She'll talk about the things she's learned from each of these, and how her family has been impacted by clinical trial experiences.
